Threads Reimagined: Introduction to Weaving with Found Fabrics (Ages 8 - 12)
2026 Arts Fall Programs
Turn fabric scraps into something entirely new with Fashion & Textile Artist Maria Augusta. Using table looms, you'll learn foundational weaving techniques while transforming found and leftover fabric into woven cloth. Over the three weeks she will cover basic weaving techniques on table tapestry style looms, including warping the loom, plain weave and simple pattern variations, and incorporating scrap/found fabric strips as weft material. It's a meditative, hands-on introduction to weaving that's equal parts sustainable and satisfying. Students will finish a small woven sample or piece by the end of the session and gain experience to continue weaving. EXPERIENCE This course is perfect for absolute beginners and those wanting a refresher on skills and techniques SUPPLIES All supplies are included but we ask that everyone brings fabric scraps to utilize in their weaving such as old shirts, pants, tea towels, sheets, etc.
