Pattern & Power: Fabric & Textile Collage Workshop (Ages 8 - 12)

Have fun cutting, layering, and composing your own bold textile collage inspired by the colorful, fabric-based artworks of Miriam Schapiro, artistic leader of the Pattern & Decoration art movement whose artwork blurs the line of fine art & craft. During this three session workshop with Fashion & Textile Artist, Maria Augusta you will learn how to transform paper, textiles, and found materials to celebrate creativity, pattern, and the joy of making by hand. By learning more about art history and important artists you will be able to create your own collage artwork that represents a room, garment, or object telling a story about yourself. SUPPLIES All supplies are included, but you are welcome to bring your own fabric scraps or old clothing if you have a colour, pattern, or design you love! EXPERIENCE This course is perfect for absolute beginners and those wanting a refresher on skills and techniques
