Handmade Soap Making
2026 Arts Fall Programs
Take part in a Do It Yourself soap-making bee and create fantastic smelling soaps! Make and take home potentially 7 different styles (approximately 6 pounds) of soap. First, learn how to make soap the natural way by using lye and vegetable oils. Then add a modern touch through your choice of fragrances, additives and colour. Pick from a pantry full of ingredients of things like pumice, mineral clay, oatmeal and honey. At the end of the workshop take home lots of ideas and numerous recipes - even hair and dog shampoo bars! SUPPLIES All supplies for making soap included. Some supplies will be needed from home., i.e. apron and containers to take your products home. Please bring to class: wear long sleeves to protect your skin rubber kitchen gloves (or several surgical or latex gloves) an apron or something to protect your clothing a sturdy container/bag to take soap home in (tote, shoe box, plastic container, durable shopping bag) snacks/light lunch and refreshment/s to enjoy during a working break. The class will discuss all things soap while having snacks/light lunch (microwaves available).
