Nutcracker Auditions 2026! Hello dancers and families, We are excited to announce that registration for Francesco Ventriglia’s The Nutcracker children’s cast 2026 audition is now open! Dancing in the Alberta Ballet’s professional production is a unique learning opportunity for our students and always makes great memories for the dancers! If your dancer is interested in joining this year’s cast, please read all the information below to understand the commitment involved for both dancers and families. All dancers must be registered with Alberta Ballet Programming to be eligible to audition. Auditions are mandatory for all Junior Professional program students. Senior Professional Program students are also invited to audition, however it should be noted that you are auditioning for children's cast roles i.e. Soldiers. The Nutcracker is a professional ballet production. Dancers are required to attend all rehearsals. If ill, dancers will attend virtually. Dancers must also be available for all performance dates. The last performance day for students staying in residence is December 19. Students staying in residence must be available to perform up to and including the December 19 performances. Please make travel plans for after this date. Local students must be available for all performances as listed below, no exceptions. If a dancer is absent from any rehearsal, they will need to be reassessed before they are allowed to perform onstage. If your dancer is unable to attend all rehearsals and performances listed, we ask you to refrain from auditioning this year and welcome them to consider auditioning next year.
