Adaptive Creative Dance: Neurodiverse - kids (6 - 8 years)

This inclusive creative dance class is adapted to neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, Tourette Syndrome) kids and those with sensory needs. Dance skills and concepts are explored through playful prompts and activities in a welcoming, non-judgmental space. If a child benefits from one-to-one support, the childs parents/support persons are welcome to participate to help ensure a positive experience. Led in-tandem with the National accessArts Centre by a teacher with lived experience, kids will experience: narrative and thematic movement using props and small handheld instruments fundamental gross motor movements mind-body connection through dance, such as strength, coordination, balance, and rhythm social connections and exploring emotional expression through movement Short, supervised, mid-class break to be utilized by participants as needed Prerequisite: None Please bring: Comfortable and moveable clothing, dancing shoes or bare feet, water, any sensory items your dancer may need (ex. noise-cancelling headphones, a crunchy snack) Forms/waivers: Access Needs Form (for all dancers) - information that will help us tailor programming to the children in the studio
